⭐️ 5 "Pip-Squeak" Stars ⭐️
This last book in the When Rivals Play Series was the very best in my opinion! Vaughn and Tyra's nerve wracking romance was so emotional! Between their ups and downs, this couple was intensely captivating! I was intrigued by them since The Peer and the Puppet and to finally get my hands on their own story and have the answers I was seeking was everything! B.B. Reid managed to wrap-up a must read series in the most amazing way with The Prince and the Pawn! To say I was curious about Vaughn and his home life situation was an understatement. From the little glimpses I got throughout the series, I wanted to learn more and… OMG! I was surprised by all the cold-hearted mind games and manipulation he suffers from his father. The cruel and wicked plans that man has for Vaughn only makes the boy more secretive and self-destructive at times. It’s so clear that Vaughn has deep feelings for Tyra with their palpable chemistry, but he’s pushing her away to ultimately always come back for more. But by doing that he’s only trying to keep her safe bu breaking his own heart too. It was so heartbreaking this whiplash of a romance, but when this pair is on, it’s so intense and the passion pouring from them is phenomenal.
As it was expected, Vaughn is so alpha! He shows signs of possessiveness and jealousy, but can also be so sweet and understanding! He makes mistakes, Tyra makes mistakes, but under it all somewhere that have their reasons and deal with them. Tyra might seems weak at times when she’s under Vaughn’s charm, but she also shows attitude and resilience! She’s not ready to be played with. She makes the guy works for her love back, because there’s a lot of hurt between them! Interwoven in all this tumultuous romance, there’s suspense about the Exiled and Thirteen gangs, but also humor provided mostly by our favorite Jameson Buchanan! The group of friends is so supportive of each other and is what makes this series this good. It’s always amazing reading a book where the supportive characters brings so much depth to a story. The Prince and the Pawn was somewhat bittersweet, with the imminent conclusion of this series getting closer! This epilogue left me overwhelm with happy feelings and couldn’t have ended better. B.B. Reid concluded the When Rivals Play Series with a bang! I won’t forget my favorite crew of Blackwood Keep anytime soon!
