TITLE: Ember

SERIES: Burn #1 AUTHOR: Emma Renshaw

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

TROPES: Small Town / Single Mom RELEASE DATE: April 21st, 2020

One night changed an entire town.

Ten years ago, I left Hawk Valley.

I never planned to return. Not to the regrets. The bitter memories. The guilt.

My baseball career gave me both the excuse and the money I needed to start over. Then my mom called, and I found myself headed back to the one place I swore I wouldn’t step foot again.

Meeting Delilah wasn’t part of the plan. Falling in love with her adorable son was even less so. And yet, what’s brewing between us is too intense to be denied. The unexpected passion is almost enough to distract us from the crumbling of both our worlds.

But even as the sparks fly, someone is waiting in the shadows to burn it all down.

Awww! This book is everything I love about small town romances. Ember was my first read by Emma Renshaw and I absolutely loved it! Romantic, sweet and highly emotional, this slow burn romance captured my heart. Gunner and Delilah’s relationship was so beautiful to watch evolve.

Gunner has been haunted for ten years by a traumatizing event that changed his small town on his high school graduation night. He’s back in town ten years later in his off-season from professional baseball and meets the lovely Delilah, the cook at the inn he’s staying at. They bond so effortlessly, but it’s also they way he always includes her son Tucker that had me melting for him. Those three are the sweetest together. Gunner is truly protective and caring. Tucker is a cute little guy obsessed with baseball and to have his star player in his life makes their interactions even more adorable. Delilah has fears and certain secrets, but together this couple learn to let the past go and embrace the future.

This novel was so romantic, but with a little dose of suspense put in the mix to make this read even more captivating. Emma Renshaw is definitely an author I’ll read more in the near future. Now, I need to dive into the second standalone in the Burn Series, Ignite, as I loved the supporting cast. They’re such a great group of friends and family!

TITLE: Ignite

SERIES: Burn #2 AUTHOR: Emma Renshaw

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

TROPES: Small Town / Firefighter / Fling RELEASE DATE: July 21st, 2020

One night changed an entire town.

One girl changed my entire life.

After she left without saying goodbye, I never expected to see her again.

The fire that changed Hawk Valley was my first night on the job. She was my first save as a firefighter. But she wasn’t the first to walk out of my life without looking back.

She was just another number on that list.

I grew used to putting out sparks in my personal life, too. But when she came back, I couldn’t stop myself from chasing after her. Just a fling, we said. But where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Of all people, I should have known that. It could never be casual with us. It was always going to become an inferno.

Until someone else put out the fire.

Gah! Ignite was sooooo good! I loved this second standalone novel in the Burn series even more than the first one. There was just something magical about Zoe and Ridge! This couple was simply incredible! Their story was the right balance of swoon worthy, sensual, emotional and suspenseful moments!

"𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒁𝒐𝒆. 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆. 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒕, 𝒂𝒔𝒉, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍. 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒌𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕."

Zoe harbors a lot of culpability over the bonfire turned disaster that cost a lot of lives on her high school graduation celebration. She left Hawk Valley soon after this event and she’s only now, over ten years later, coming back in town to spread her aunt’s ashes. She’s soon rekindling her friendship with her BFF Makenna and all her entourage. Ridge, the man that saved her life on that fateful day is part of the group and when they meet again, a fierce attraction exists between them. They start a fling, knowing she’s not in town for a long time, but soon feelings gets involved. I absolutely adored every interaction this couple shared. From sweet, to steamy hot, to intensely moving, they left me breathless!

As a firefighter, you see Ridge’s need to protect people at every cost and I was enthralled by the way he cared deeply for Zoe. He was so determined to prove to her that she has her place back in Hawk Valley with him and their friends that are more like family. Zoe is also a really selfless person, being a geriatric nurse and having devoted her last years taking care of her sick aunt. She’s kind-hearted, but plagued by her guilt she has difficulty to move on and live her life to the fullest.

"𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒖𝒑 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆. 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆, 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓. 𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒚. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆."

Ignite checked out all the boxes in my list! I enjoyed that in the middle of all this romantic stuff, there was also an interesting intrigue that kept me hooked at every turn. The whole cast of this series is so interesting and I’m really invested in all their own stories. I’m excited about Inferno, the next novel! Emma Renshaw is undoubtedly a new author to me I’m now addicted to.

TITLE: Inferno

SERIES: Burn #3 AUTHOR: Emma Renshaw

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

TROPES: Small Town / Firefighter RELEASE DATE: February 23rd, 2021

One night changed an entire town.

I lost everything the night of the Hawk Valley bonfire.

The ghosts of my past kept me inside the town limits, though I dreamed of faraway places.

He was the town golden boy. Son of the mayor. Firefighter and local hero. I was the girl from the wrong side of town and still paying for my father’s sins. I tried to stay away from our local hero, but he kept popping up everywhere. He singed my nerves, but every time we bickered, I only wanted to kiss him.

The unexpected passion between us turned into a blazing inferno. A promise of only one night turned into two. Until we couldn’t stop.

I thought there was nothing left to lose.

But when the past came back to burn us, I realized I never knew what I had...

Inferno was another amazing read from Emma Renshaw! I absolutely adored Adeline and Foster’s story which was bursting with so much feels! The Burn Series only keeps getting better with each book!

"𝑰 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒘 𝒖𝒑 𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒇𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔. 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒘 𝒖𝒑 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒍. 𝑶𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏."

Just from the prologue, I was teary-eyed and chocked up by emotions. Adeline lived through such a devastating night, the day of her high school graduation. That same night also shaped the man Foster is now. It helped him find his purpose as a firefighter, a profession he’s now dedicated to. That man is truly incredible. So charming, sweet, funny and caring! When Adeline is integrated in his group of friends, they steadily grow closer. Adeline is strong and a fighter, despite the hurdles she faced in her life. I enjoyed how Foster brought such sassiness from this otherwise sweet woman. He gives her confidence and they’re simply stunning as a couple. So well-matched, with spark flying in their every interaction.

"𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒏 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑰'𝒎 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅. 𝑰'𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒐𝒐."

As it was the case with the previous novels in the series, Inferno also incorporated a thrilling intrigue intermingled with the romance! I cherished the fact we got to see a lot of the side characters, previously met in Ember and Ignite, making the story even more interesting. Inferno had me in awe from start to finish that’s for sure! I’m now so ready for Makenna and Colt’s story next!

TITLE: Smolder

SERIES: Burn #4 AUTHOR: Emma Renshaw

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

TROPES: Small Town / Police Officer RELEASE DATE: April 27th, 2021

One night changed an entire town.

And it wrecked my life.

It was built with secrets. Secrets I kept from nearly everyone. Things no one would expect from the sweet, smiling girl with a flower shop. Besides my family, there wasn’t a person in this town that knew what I’d been hiding. I’d kept it locked away safely since the fire.

I never expected to be faced with my shame, to have my darkness exposed in the light of day. I never thought Colt, the man who invaded too many of my thoughts, would be the one to bring it crashing down. He asked too many questions and saw straight through me, down to my soul. He unravelled me with one smoldering look. That’s all it took for my carefully guarded world to begin to crumble.

When everything begins spinning into chaos, Colt promises to be there. I want to believe him. I want to get lost in his strong embrace, but I know I don’t deserve him. And he deserves more than all my fractured pieces.

I should have known all along that keeping secrets would burn down my entire world.

⭐️ 4 "Secrets" Stars ⭐️

Smolder was another fantastic addition to the Burn Series! This lovely small town romance put butterflies in my stomach. I was really excited to start Makenna and Colt’s story, because they had me intrigued from the first book in the series with their hostile dynamic underlying with attraction. I couldn't have asked for more from these two! They were just so perfect for each other!

Colt was just the perfect hero! Omg, that man was seriously dreamy with the way he acted with Makenna such devotion. The woman of his dreams has been avoiding their simmering pull for years, but when he discovers one of her deepest secrets, a powerful bond builds between them. He’s always their for her, being so supportive and protective. This sexy police officer is truly a good man and respects her wishes to keep her secrets until she’s ready to reveal them. I had a little more difficulty to connect with Makenna. I felt for the loss of her first love, Declan, but I had a little difficulty with all the secrecy even twelve years later. With how great her friends and family are, I wanted her to be more truthful with them. However, as a couple, Makenna and Colt were just amazing with steamy encounters, but also moments of sweetness.

Smolder was a gorgeous romance with also a suspenseful vibe that kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m sad the series is over, because all its characters are incredible and I’ll miss them! I’m so glad I discovered Emma Renshaw’s books!

"𝑺𝒉𝒆’𝒅 𝒘𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒋𝒐𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎. 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒄𝒉, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆."

Emma loves to write, just don't ask her to write about herself. If she isn't writing, you can find her lost in a book or trying to get her doggo to take a selfie with her. He usually refuses. At the end of the day, you can find Emma at the closest Mexican restaurant eating queso and sipping on a Diet Coke. She lives in Texas with her husband and dog.
