Review | Bitter Love (Silver Ridge #2) by Emily Goodwin → 4.5 Stars
SERIES: Silver Ridge #2 AUTHOR: Emily Goodwin
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
TROPE: Single Mom / Small Town
RELEASE DATE: April 30th, 2022
If there’s one thing I know to be certain in life, it’s to expect the unexpected. I never expected to become a teen mom or have to flee a toxic relationship years later. And I certainly never expected to go head-to-head with Jacob Harris, doctor of veterinary medicine, to prove I’m worthy of running the struggling rescue full of misfit animals I suddenly inherited.
Jacob is as smug as he is good looking, and I refuse to let that cocky grin or sharp jawline distract me. I won’t go down without a fight, and this time, it’ll be easy to stand my ground when my opponent is someone I can’t stand—even though my body reacts whenever he’s around. This time I’m not backing down no matter how much he gets under my skin.
But the more I push, the more he pulls…until I don’t know what I’m more at a risk of losing: the rescue or my heart.

⭐️ 4.5 "Rescue" Stars ⭐️
It had been a long while since my last read from Emily Goodwin and how I missed her stories! Bitter Love was such a great romance that had me hooked right from the start. I was excited to dive back into the Silver Ridge Series and wasn't disapointed in the least with this novel.
I enjoyed Josie and Jacob's instant animosity with underlying sexual tension. Their chemistry was so intense and I was waiting for them to take their relationship to the next level. I like a good slow burn romance, but felt this one was a little too slow to my taste. I didn't get to enjoy Josie and Jacob as a real couple as much as I wanted with their feelings getting explored so late in the book. The development of their romance was so worth it though! Jacob was clearly the perfect man for Josie.
I was agreeably surprised by the fact Josie is a single mom of a teenage girl. In most books, children are younger and it was refreshing to see her close relationship with her daugther Everly. They had a beautiful bond. It was cute seeing mother and daugther sharing the same passion for horses. The had such good hearts and I enjoyed discovering about the world of rescue horses.
It was nice to get a little more of the Harrises. They're a tight family and they share funny moments together, but they also really supportive. I'm definitely eagerly waiting for Mason's story. Bitter Love is a sweet story you don't want to miss!
