Release Blitz + Review | The Right Player by Kandi Steiner --> 4 Stars
TITLE: The Right Player AUTHOR: Kandi Steiner
GENRE: Sports Romance
RELEASE DATE: September 24th, 2020
I have a three date rule — but it’s not what you think. See, I’ve been told I’m the “good time girl,” not the one you take home to Mom. And while that label stung at first, I’ve since embraced it — living the wild and free life and sticking to a three date max. That’s just enough time to have some fun and snuff out the possibility of catching feelings. And it’s been working for me for years… Until Makoa Kumaka. Sadly, he also has a three date rule — and it’s the exact opposite of mine. From the second I meet him, all I can think about is stripping down that six-foot-five Herculean hunk of a man. But like the gentleman I wish he wasn’t, he’s making me wait. The more time we spend together, the more I feel those pesky emotions creeping in. I’m even tempted to trust him, but blame it on my past or my instincts, I can’t shake the feeling that he’s hiding something… I’ve been playing the game forever, and no man has ever won my heart — which meant they never had the power to break it. But maybe I just hadn’t met the right player. Maybe I’ll wish I never did.
⭐️ 4 "Three Date Rule" Stars ⭐️
The Right Player had me so excited since it was announced! I really enjoyed Belle as a supporting character in The Wrong Game and was glad to get her own story.
The book was really sweet and romantic with sparks of humor. Makoa is this beast of a man on the exterior, but he’s truly the sweetest. The way he loses his composure every single time he’s in Belle’s presence is so adorable. He’s usually really calm and confident, but this woman is his weakness from their first meeting. He wasn’t lucky in his previous relationships, so he’s a little bit apprehensive to open up about his status as an NFL player. Lying about his real job, his new relationship evolves and it becomes more and more difficult to confess his truth to Belle.
I already knew Belle’s cheery and “good time girl” personality, but I was agreeably surprised to discover the insecure girl underneath it all. She’s also been hurt in the past, and this persona she forged herself to be years ago isn’t really who she is. Yes, she’s full of life and appreciate the simple things, but she’s secretly dreaming of more. I loved her romance with Makoa so much! She was effortlessly charmed by his clumsy moments and so not judgmental of his tender side. These facets of him are truly what make him unique and attractive!
Together, they’re so beautiful! But don’t let Makoa’s sweet attentiveness fool you, because he’s a totally different person in the throes of passion. This couple is so explosive and hot! Their intimate moments are as sexy as they’re filled with feelings. As much as I really enjoyed both protagonists and their relationship, I’ll admit that the lying went for too long for me. I was disappointed by Mak’s decision to pursue on this deceit that long.
The Right Player was an amazing sports romance that made me laugh and swoon. Makoa and Belle were so entertaining, but we also got the opportunity to see Gemma and Zach again. I totally recommend this read that is the true essence of romance novel!

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
