Emilia—

All I’ve ever wanted was to marry for love.

But girls like me don’t have that luxury.

We are used as pawns in a game we can’t control.

The game? It’s called Mafia.

I was foolish enough to try to change the rules… and I lost.

Luca—

She was promised to me years ago.

And he dared to take her from me.

Dared to touch what was mine.

I put an end to that.

I hope he’s enjoying the view from his dirt room.

Emilia—

My beloved’s killer placed a ruby ring on my finger and called me his queen.

But that red gem symbolizes something different for me.

It represents the blood shed by those I love most.

Hell was empty the day we wed.

Because the devil was standing before me and said “I do.”

Luca—

I saw her as a possession.

A shiny toy I didn’t want other boys to play with.

But she’s so much more.

Beautiful and brave and strong and broken all at once.

She tastes like everything I’ve ever wanted.

Emilia—

Hidden and patient.

I wait for the perfect time to seek my revenge.

But slowly, I feel him possessing me.

His heart is full of darkness… and I still want every inch of him.

Hard as I try, I can’t escape loving this beautiful monster.

Luca—

I’m waiting patiently because I already know that she’s mine.

Mine in a way that no one will ever understand.

Even if she hasn’t yet realized it.

For love, I’d do anything.

For her, I’d do everything.

⭐️ 4 "Blood & Grace" Stars ⭐️

Really early in my read of Waiting for my Queen, I didn’t know if I would enjoyed it. Let’s just say that Luca Rossini is a difficult hero to love at first. I love villain / anti-hero, but this man certainly takes it to an unforgivable level with his cruel actions. Throughout my read though, it was obvious that Luca slowly was stealing my heart. Georgia Cates created a mafia world set in the late 70’s that had me ultimately obsessed! Luca would do anything to get the girl betroth to him, even kill a huge part of her family in retribution for the breaking of their deal. It’s not the perfect start for a love story, so needless to say their relationship starts with hate. One thing is obvious between them though, the fierce attraction! They begins their tumultuous romance on a physical level that only bring them closer and closer with each shared moment. Luca eventually softens for his queen and shows his tender side, demonstrating that he’s not only a monster. He had me swooning hard over his protectiveness and fondness for Emilia. I appreciated that Emilia isn’t a doormat in this story. She knows her new man is dangerous and vicious, but doesn’t shy away from putting him in his place when she feels like it. Their sizzling chemistry is everything and their burgeoning feelings are gorgeous to see develop. I must admit that this story wasn’t as suspenseful as I expected, mostly revolving around Luca and Emilia’s romance. It has nonetheless some adrenaline inducing scenes that had me anxious and thrilled. Waiting for my Queen was a great entertainment and I wouldn’t be disappointed with companion books set in this world. They’re so much potential with the supporting characters.
