What started as a really sweet and enjoyable small town romance, turned out to be so much more! I’m still reeling over my first read by Catherine Cowles, Beautifully Broken Pieces! The romance was so charming and heartwarming! The suspense and intrigue was pleasantly surprising and gripping! Taylor needs a change of scenery after the death of her mother. She finds solace in the small town of Sutter Lake, Oregon where she meets the Cole family. She wants to keep to herself, afraid to open her heart to love after her lost, but this family isn’t deterred. They keep pushing and pushing and she can’t help but befriend them. Her relationship with Walker Cole is pretty amazing to see evolve. Their banter is alluring and sparks are flying in their every interactions. She doesn’t like to be told what to do and she shows it by being defiant and sassy. Walker is such a sweet hero that had me swooning hard. He’s charismatic, protective and truly a good guy. I enjoyed the way he slowly breaks Taylor’s walls to show her a beautiful kind of love. They were so endearing and had my heart fluttering and a constant smile adorned my face during my read. Nothing is all sweet though, because there’s mysterious disappearances happening his the woods surrounding Sutter Lake. Walker, as a police officer, investigates and only grows more protective of his rebellious Taylor. The suspenseful aspect of the storyline had me totally captivated. I loved this first novel in the Sutter Lake series and can’t wait to read about the other characters. I enjoyed their presence in this story as it brought a little something more. Walker’s grandma, Irma was hilarious with her mingling for those two to get together. Beautifully Broken Pieces was ensnaring and a lovely slow burn that gave me all the feels!
