I love a good mafia / dark romance and was really titillated by Code of Silence’s blurb! Right from the beginning, Shantel Tessier seized my attention with this world of corruption set in Las Vegas filled with unpredictable twists and hot encounters! This fast-paced story was captivating and the characters engaging, even if at times the hero was a huge jerk. But I love alpha-hole hero, so it’s not a surprise that I still appreciated the ruthless Luca Bianchi.
Luca was born in the mafia, so he knows violence and darkness. He’s a commanding and heartless man. At times I wasn’t sure if I really enjoyed his cold and controlling nature, because even his obsession with Haven looked over-the-top and wild at times. He rarely shows kindness or tenderness, even with the woman of his dream so he’s arduous to read! He’s a dirty talker in the bedroom and oozes an undeniable dominant side!

The fact the novel was also a second chance romance added some more angst to the story! Haven is still heartbroken over their separation from two years earlier and when she finds herself Luca’s soon-to-be wife after a deal, she’s enraged. The sparks only grow and grow between them to catch fire! Their intimate moments are explosive and decadent!
The intrigue was interesting and I was stunned by a few revelations I didn’t suspected. I still felt some parts were too rushed making the romance between Luca and Haven a little forced, but still this read was intense and very good. Shantel Tessier unquestionably shaped a tarnished world I can’t wait to revisit with Oliver Nite’s story, but also with the upcoming Dark Kings Series!

Shantel is a Texas born girl who now lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her high school sweetheart, who is a wonderful, supportive husband and their seven year old little princess. She loves to spend time cuddled up on the couch with a good book.
She considers herself extremely lucky to get to be a stay at home wife and mother. Going to concerts and the movies are just a few of her favorite things to do. She hates coffee, but loves wine. She and her husband are both huge football fans, college and NFL. And she has to feed her high heel addiction by shopping for shoes weekly.
