Torrid Throne, the second installment in the Forbidden Royals Trilogy, is another winner! Emilia’s journey navigating through her new princess duties is mesmerizing and intriguing. There's a lot of unanswered questions about the threats on the royal family that just keeps getting closer to be unveiled. Julie Johnson succeeded in creating a sequel that had me invested all read long with her stunning prose and surprising revelations.

I didn’t think I could enjoy Emilia more than I already did, but I was wrong. More than ever a public figure, she doesn’t shy away from being authentic and ardent, but still enforces her influence over the population of Germania! Her audaciousness is inspiring and she had me in awe. While she acts without the consent of her advisors more than ever, she’s also crumbling under the weight of her new responsibilities. For someone so real, it’s difficult to live this life of obligation!
Her relationship with Carter is still shaky and challenging. They can’t deny this irresistible draw to each other, but it’s so forbidden that it makes all their meetings that much heartbreaking, yet powerful and angsty. There’s a limited amount of romantic moments between this amazing couple and I just wanted a little more of these insanely intense scenes between them. I treasured them even more when they happened.

Once again, Julie Johnson penned a very pleasant tale full of mystery with Torrid Throne. I was seized by this world of trickery and illicit passion! With that ending, I’m more than anxious for the final tome, Sordid Empire!
