Release Blitz + Review | Baby Mine (Roommate Duet: Hunter & Lennon #1) by Kennedy Fox --> 4.5
TITLE: Baby Mine
SERIES: Roommate Duet: Hunter & Lennon #1 AUTHOR: Kennedy Fox
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: April 23rd, 2019
I saw her first. Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty. I was smitten.
But it didn't matter because she chose him and he was my best friend and roommate. I'd never be able to compete with that, so I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn't have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us. Now, I'm screwed.
To her singing in the shower every morning, dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living room, I can't stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She's not mine and never will be, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to push her against a wall and claim her mouth.
She's constantly on me for making messes, bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it's not fair for the way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good; however, the selfish part of me can't let go.
But then the unthinkable happens... When my best friend dies in a motorcycle accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of pushing her away, I pull her closer.
Just as we come to terms with our new reality, she finds out she's pregnant with his baby. And I'm left to make the hardest decision of my life...
**BABY MINE is an angsty, emotional, slow-burn romance wrapped up in a heartbreakingly delicious love story. It's book 1 in the Hunter & Lennon duet and must be read first.**
⭐️ 4.5 "Aching" Stars ⭐️
I’m always so impatient for each new release by Kennedy Fox and this new Roommates Series had me ecstatic! Just from the blurb, the first duet of this series about Hunter and Lennon promised angst and heartache mixed with laughter and tears! I was so right as my heart felt so much pain intertwined with hope and beauty inside the pages of this emotional story!
"My only job right now is to be the glue that keeps her whole as best as I can."
Baby Mine had my heart utterly affected by this burst of feelings! I felt this tangible bond and attraction Hunter and Lennon share so effortlessly when they first meet and throughout their everyday interactions. I just wanted to hug Hunter and help him heal from the sorrow and ache of his unrequited feelings for Lennon. The chapters written in his point of view are my favorites! It’s where Hunter is really exposed and displays his true nature and his endless struggle with seeing Lennon in a relationship with his best friend Brandon. You clearly understand the depth of his feelings for the girl and the reason he’s likes to antagonize her. It’s the only way for him to keep his real feelings to himself. He only wants the best for Brandon and sacrifices so much of his own happiness to preserve his friendship! Just writing this review, I have tears in my eyes, thinking about the powerful wave of pain Hunter lives with!
"If I weren't keeping the biggest secret of my life from her, I'd be kissing those tears away."
As I previously stated, I treasured this story, however the only slight problem I felt with this novel and the reason I didn’t rate it five stars is the pacing. I felt it was too slow. From the blurb, we already know the turning point of the story and it happens too far in the novel in my opinion. I personally felt the second half of the book was the best with Hunter and Lennon really developing a meaningful friendship!
We truly see the real potential of these two when they’re both grieving. We easily notice the caring, sweet, beautiful man that Hunter is. He would absolutely do anything for Lennon and had me awestruck! These chapters are so profoundly sad and Lennon’s grief is heart-breaking! I cried a lot during these sections and the comfort Hunter provides her is endearing and sincere! Lennon experiences a massive loss, but Hunter gradually brings her back to life with his precious consideration. She’s always denied the undeniable magnetism between them and while she’s mourning Brandon, they rise brightly and unsettle her. She’s conflicted about this new dynamic, but the feelings are there, growing every day!
"I'll do anything to comfort her and to help her heal, even if it means I'm destroyed in the process."
Kennedy Fox crafted another highly touching story with Baby Mine. I loved the protagonist so much and their relationship development is amazing! I can’t wait for more of Hunter and Lennon. I can’t say I didn’t see the cliffhanger coming, but I truly don’t know how the rest of their story will play out! I need Baby Yours ASAP!
