If you’ve already started the Web of Sin Series and think that Araneae and Sterling have chemistry, you’ve seen nothing yet. In Lies, their connection is even more palpable! I lived for their several confrontations that raised the heat level to something explosive. Their underlying affection is so clear under these arguments though. They’re such an interesting couple with the right dose of hotness mixed with intense banters but also sweet tenderness!
I already loved Araneae in the first novel, but she shows even more defiance in this sequel. She’s stubborn and doesn’t bend to Sterling’s orders. Omg, I loved these scenes where she puts him in his place. He’s not a man familiar with disobedience with his powerful position in the underground world and Araneae is certainly not on board to all his commands. The push and pull between them generates an overwhelming passion that stole my breath and made my heart skip a few beats.
Sterling!!! I fell even more in love with this hero. He works in a cruel world where he needs to be ruthless to display his authority, but every action he does to protect Araneae is somewhat sweet. Yes, he’s overprotective and overbearing, but it’s so apparent she’s the most precious thing in his life. I adored the chapters written in his point of view where his feelings for her show a man not acquainted with these type of affectionate emotions. He’s merciless in his job, but Araneae brings a softer side to him that is quite attractive!
Enough raving about this amazing pair, let’s talk about the intrigue! I was soon entranced by the plotline that was already established in the first book. New revelations are exposed through Lies, making this web of deceits completely addictive. All the new elements put together to help me understand the whole mystery surrounding Araneae’s past kept me entirely absorbed in this book.
Aleatha Romig sure knows how to shape an incredibly fascinating and thrilling intrigue, revealing the right amount of answers to keep you hooked. Lies is assuredly a must read romantic suspense! The next novel, Promises, can’t be here soon enough!
