⭐️ 5+ "Trip Down Memory Lane" Stars ⭐️
From the moment it was announced Jodi Ellen Malpas was writing another book in the This Man Series, I was ecstatic! You can never have enough of Jesse Ward and his unusual ways. I loved the original trilogy and the powerful love Ava and Jesse share, so knowing that in this book Ava loses her memory, I was prepared to shed a lot of tears!
"I'm not about to let you forget our story. I will make sure you remember. It's my mission objective. I'll do anything."
I enjoyed the leap in time where we can see this loving couple as in love with each other as they were twelve years earlier. Their family life with their eleven years old twins is not always peaceful with Maddie having the same sass as her mum and Jacob being the perfect image of The Lord himself. The twins are assuredly they parents’ children! I recognized so much of Ava and Jesse in some of their reactions that I was smiling so big and laughing so much!
"It was just a kiss, but it was earthmoving. I felt like she was breathing hope into me."
When an accident lands Ava in a coma and she loses her memory, Jesse is destroyed. With the strength of his love, he shows courage in face of the adversity! It was so amazing witnessing Jesse making a trip down memory lane with Ava, hoping it would bring back the memories of their tumultuous love story. From their first meeting to every epic romantic and tragic parts of their life together, Jesse works hard at making his wife remember and fall in love with him again. Gosh, I love this man!!!
"I'm slowly putting it all together, figuring him out. He is the biggest part of who I am."
Every single time there was an element of their past mentioned, I was delighted remembering those epic moments. It was also very sad seeing Jesse struggled through this trial. He likes to be strong, but under his obsessive ways, he’s sensible and this awful event makes him pretty vulnerable. You feel this accident is life-altering. Jesse needs to restrain himself time and time again by fear of making Ava overwhelmed by his impulsive self.
"I know you're mine. I know I'm your heart. Because even though I don't know you, I know that when I think of you gone, it hurts really bad just here."
While Jesse battles through the terrible experience, Ava is also left very affected. She doesn’t have a recollection of any of their past, but her feelings toward Jesse and her children are still deep-rooted. She easily falls under the charm of Jesse all over again and shows her sass and independence.
"This woman makes my veins burn. Makes my eyes sting just looking at her. Makes my heart surge with adoration."
I laughed, smiled, cried and felt my heart palpitate so much during this magnificent story. I loved, loved, loved finally reading Jesse’s over-the-top thoughts and actions! Having this story told in his point of view was the perfect gift Jodi Ellen Malpas could do to her readers! She nailed this new addition to the This Man Series with all the FEELS! I was in bliss all book long for sure! It’s another top favorite read for me this year for sure.
