I don’t know how to start this review as I’m still overwhelmed by this compelling story. I only know that I loved Free Fall so much. This book is so beautiful as well as heartbreaking. Emily Goodwin crafted a painful, but hopeful love story about two young people trying to live again after tragic events changed their lives for the worst.
“It’s just me and you.”
Nora is sent in a foster family after her grandmother and only family alive is admitted into a nursing home. She’s sad and hides her feelings, but meeting her new neighbor Jack makes her open up more. Jack also knows darkness and recognizes it in Nora’s eyes. I loved him so much! He has his own troubles to deal with, but Nora finally shines some light in his life and he also exposes himself to her about the trauma he struggles with.
“Life is complicated.” I bury my face in her neck. “What I feel for you isn’t.”
I liked them both so much together, their romance being so sweet and their love profound. Nora is strong in spite of all the bad happening to her and with Jack she finds someone to make her feel again. While being in their teenage years, it’s so apparent the feelings they have are powerful.
“When it gets dark, look for the stars. Stars can’t shine without the darkness.”
The story is told in two parts; the first portion being about the blossoming of their love and the second one about their second chance.
Free Fall is a book I highly recommend for the beauty of all the emotions translated across the pages. This novel will capture your heart for sure!
