OMG! Can I have the sequel ASAP? Seriously, Kennedy Fox you have a flair to left your readers with jaw dropping cliffhangers. I’m so impatient for the next installment of Kayla and Logan. I adored their story! Checkmate: This Is Dangerous is definitely my favorite of the Checkmate series. It’s the complete package with incredibly enthralling characters, funny moments, suspense, secrets, revelations, passion and it creates the perfect romance novel.
I’d been waiting for Logan and Kayla’s story since their first meeting in the previous books of the series, where their attraction was palpable and hints to their intriguing background were dropped. The way the story developed was flawless with a slow build up on the relationship part, but with enough flirting, lingering gazes and heart pounding interactions to make the anticipation blissful. This couple is so alluring with a fabulous chemistry on all levels. Kayla and Logan share mutual longing, lust, desire, but also respect and devotion.
Kayla is really the type of heroine everyone likes. She’s this gorgeous and authentic girl always ready to help others. Her love for her fur babies is so sweet and her addiction to donuts amusing. These qualities are really eye catching for the brooding Logan. He keeps to himself a lot, but Kayla brings happiness in his life even if he tries to deny it. I discovered during my read surprising aspects of his personality that made him so dreamy. He is caring and protective and Kayla’s presence in his life only makes him unveiled new layers that I just couldn’t help but swoon over. He’s definitely my favorite man of the Checkmate series. Sorry Travis and Drew!
What’s also exciting about this story is that it isn’t all about their growing romance, but also some secrets and hints are placed throughout the book to create a thrilling atmosphere. There’s some insinuations that are made that I just can’t wait to discover more about.
There’s also lighter moments. Logan and his little girl Skylar’s relationship is adorable and Kayla’s chats with Courtney, Viola or Lucy are hilarious. Every single interaction with the whole bunch of friends is so entertaining. They all fit so well together and there’s never a dull moment.
Checkmate: This Is Dangerous is a brilliant story that won’t let you indifferent. Kennedy Fox mixed the perfect combination of romantic, suspense and fun. Now, I’m more than anxious for more of Layla and having answers to my multiple interrogation.
