This is Book Four in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It is not necessary to read all of the other books in the series. However, I do highly recommend that you at least read Resisting Temptation, the third book in the Men of Honor series, since this is where these Characters story began.
K.C. Lynn once again achieved to make me fall in love with her latest hero! Wow, I adored Alissa and Christopher’s story. But it’s no surprise for me, because every single book I’ve read from this author is always charged with emotion. An Act of Courage is so beautiful, but with a whole lot of heartbreak too.
After five years with the Navy SEALs, Christopher comes back home a changed man. But one thing hasn’t changed in all this time: his endless love for Alissa. She’s always been his one true love and their reunion after he saves her from a horrible fate solidifies these feelings. While there’s unfinished business between them, they still cling to each other like never. Their relationship is so passionate and beautiful. While Christopher struggles with his past, Alissa tries to bring light into his dark life. The way they’re still devoted to each other after all these years apart is absolutely stunning.
I loved how the story was told from both their POVs. Being able to witness Christopher’s inner fights with his demons and Alissa's unwavering faith in him was pure bliss. Just wow! The peeks into their past and the beginning of their love story in their teenage years was perfection. In these scenes I had a constant smile on my face, their cuteness being so sweet and touching. The skateboard and guitar scenes, swoon!
The passion was burning hot between them. The intimate scenes so ardent, but also filled with profound feelings. The intensity was at a very high level in these instants. This read was full of lovely moments, but also tear-jerking ones that broke me. I only wanted Christopher to find his way back, but seeing him struggle was sad. Only the strength of his love for Alissa and his family could help him surpass this. As always in this series, we get to see glimpses of our favorite characters, mostly Faith, Cade, Ruthie and little Mia; Christopher's family.
After finishing this novel, I’m more than ever in awe of K.C. Lynn’s writing. She never misses the point with her heartfelt and passionate stories. Don’t miss a chance to meet a new broken alpha who loves his woman fiercely. I highly recommend this little gem!
