I was so happy when I learned that Rae of Sunshine would become a series and the next book was about Thea and Xander. It was my favorite book by Micalea Smeltzer and I knew the almost two years between the releases would be worth the wait.
After a night of partying, Thea and Xander wake up married in Vegas. After years of denying their feelings for each other, they finally took the plunge, and what a way to do so. They’ve always been great friends, with an easy relationship, but Xander being Thea’s brother’s best friend discouraged them of divulging their real feelings. This new situation is complex for them with Thea doubting the deepness of her romantic feelings for Xander and wanting a divorce. Let’s just say that it doesn’t makes Xander happy seeing her hesitate to give this improved relationship a go. They decide to keep their new marital situation hidden from their loved ones and Xander must convince Thea over the summer that this marriage isn't a mistake.

I really liked the dynamic between them. Xander was a real sweetheart. Really not the typical jock, but a young man with a tenderness and funny side. Their natural chemistry makes it hard for them to keep their feelings a secret from their family and friends. While the main part of the story revolves around their relationship, there's also other events taking place that bring drama. Xander has another secret, he's been keeping from everyone. The secondary characters are very present in the story and I appreciated seeing a little bit more about Cade and Rae (Rae of Sunshine, book #1).
Sweet, funny and sexy, When Stars Collide is a beautiful addition to the Light in the Dark series. This story has everything to make it entertaining: a friends to lovers relationship, funny banters, sweet powerful moments and charming characters!

Granted, that’s what everyone did in Las Vegas but I like to think I usually have more sense than the social norm. I rub my eyes and blink them open. The hotel room comes into formation around me. The walls are a warm golden color and the flat screen on the wall plays some home improvement show. I can see the bathroom from the bed, the tiled walls and large soaking tub. I roll over onto my side, hoping I can sleep off the hangover, and reel back. “Oh my God,” I cry, flailing in bed. My legs kick the sleeping guy beside me. Not just any sleeping guy. Oh no. Xander Kincaid, my brother’s best friend, lays in the bed beside me. His dark hair tumbles over his forehead and his cheeks are covered with several days worth of scruff. His chest is bare and…holy shit. He’s naked. I look down. Oh God, I’m naked too. “What’s wrong?” He asks, reaching his left hand out to pull me closer to him.
