Love is just a word until someone enters your life and gives it meaning. "No" One word. Two letters. But those two letters changed everything. It was impossible to predict the impact I would have on the life of the only woman I'd ever truly loved. No way to know that I would result in her ruin. I’d suffer for eternity with the knowledge that it was me who brought devastation to her doorstep. Though I deserved the anguish I felt, to see her suffer was unacceptable. I would fix this. Somehow I would prove to her that I wasn't the monster she thought I was. Even if it meant becoming a monster in order to make that happen.

With the way Hook ended, I just couldn’t wait to dive into Burn to discover Emily and Marco’s fate. It was such a huge bomb dropped on us that this following book couldn't come soon enough. Let's say that I was really pleased with this conclusion.

The story starts right where we were left off with a shattered Emily. She’s now filled with rage and hatred for the man she loved and the people responsible for losing the most important person in her life. She completely spirals out of control, returning to her life as an escort and acting cold-hearted. Her heart is in pieces and her only way to find a shred of peace is by taking revenge in her own hands. She is a completely different person than in the first novel, but I guess her grief makes her really unhinged. She tries constantly to keep Marco away after his betrayal, but her heart and head are in contradiction. She can't stop loving him, but his deception is too important to forgive him and erase this crazy plan from her head. I loved how Marco still kept fighting for her even in these moments when she acted cold toward him. He really showed a real devotion to her, he was so perfect. He did everything to bring light again in her life and their path was hard, but their incredible love was worth fighting for. I got the answers I wanted about his past and the reasons for the threats on him. This book had less steamy moments than Hook, but their love was still palpable through the heartbreak they faced and the actions they took to go back to each others.

Elisabeth Grace perfectly concluded this great series by bringing all the missing pieces together in this romance.
