When we were ten, he treated me like a friend. When we were eighteen, he wanted nothing to do with me. And now that we are twenty-two, he longs to claim every single inch of me. He was wild—untamed. And I, a reckless girl, who loved too hard. But, what we had was special. I was his serenity and he my protector. Drake was consumed by my love… but he also took advantage of it… He’d broken my heart—left me hanging for years. He ruined us. And, now, he’s back. He wants me. And I want to hate him, I really do. But, who am I kidding? No one can deny Drake Davenport. You can’t hide from the almighty DOOMSDAY. Because he is a fighter. And, just like me, he loves hard. He never loses and he will fight as hard as he can if it means winning me back.

Wow, what a great time I had reading this book. Shanora Williams is a must-read author for me. Her books are always addicting and Doomsday Love isn't an exception.

"He fought all the time - fought with himself, fought during his free time, fought with his past - but I think when it came to me, he didn't want to fight it anymore. He couldn't fight it because if he tried he knew it would be his first loss. So he tapped out. He gave in."

I must begin by saying that I ADORED Drake "Doomsday" Davenport. He was such an interesting character. He has a rugged exterior, most people considers him a beast by the way he fights. But he's so much more than this, on the inside he's just a misunderstood fragile guy afraid to get his heart broken. It seems the only person who sees the real him is the curious Jenny. In fifth grade, she saw behind his introvert facade and they formed a quiet friendship that lasted a short time.

They meet again, after eight years, and she still feels there's more to him. They're from opposite sides of the society, poor and rich, but they share a deep bond. Jenny also never fit, misunderstood by her superficial mother and mostly absent father. I really loved how Jenny wasn't the typical rich bitch we often sees in books. It was really refreshing! I appreciated the fact that she never give up on Drake, when he's only trying to keep her away at the beginning of their relationship.

They are well surrounded by the twins, Drake's cousins. I really liked them; they managed to bring a funny side to the serious story. But there's also Kylie the easygoing best friend of Jenny that added to the book. Drake and Jenny must both face their demons if they want to have their perfect happily ever after.

"Doomsday may be a beast, but his heart is like a butterfly. It's gentle. It's kind. It's beautiful, but it is also wild."

The book is written en two parts: the past and the present. I must say that I preferred the first part; I felt the second one was a little too rushed. The overall story was beautifully told from both Drake and Jenny's POVs. I definitely recommend this read!
