Presleigh and Avery grew up in families dealing with shady business and corruption. They were friends, then high school sweethearts, before their relationship ended abruptly and violently. I was more than intrigued to discover the whole reason behind their breakup and throughout the story I got distraught and shaken by the level of savagery Presleigh experienced. I couldn’t help but feel more and more for this heroine that I first thought was weak. In fact, she’s surviving and finding back her light and strength with Avery back in her life.
I must admit that I had some difficulty connecting to the characters at the beginning. The plot was interesting and mysterious, but the hero and heroine didn’t have this spark I was looking for between them. During my read, I gradually understood better why they were this detached and bitter about the other and I could finally appreciate their messed up relationship. The sexy moments are intensely hot and perverse. As I previously stated, they’re not a sweet couple but share instead an explosive passion with dark desire.

Slaughter is a book you need to experience if you’re a fan of dark romance. It will surely shock you, but also feed your little black heart too! Shantel Tessier knocked the breath out of me with the surprising twists and violence, but also with her character development. I’m so excited to know that it’s not the end of this world, as Tristan will get his own book!

Big blue eyes stare into mine with a look of terror. Good, she recognizes me. Even in her drunken state, and eleven years later, she still knows who I am. Her pink lips part, inhaling sharply. Her entire body goes rigid. I take a step toward her as she pulls me in just as she always did. I never could control myself with her. But this time has to be different. I have to be in total control of myself and of her. She doesn’t move. She doesn’t blink. She doesn’t breathe. Shantel is a Texas born girl who now lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her high school sweetheart, who is a wonderful, supportive husband and their seven year old little princess. She loves to spend time cuddled up on the couch with a good book.
She considers herself extremely lucky to get to be a stay at home wife and mother. Going to concerts and the movies are just a few of her favorite things to do. She hates coffee, but loves wine. She and her husband are both huge football fans, college and NFL. And she has to feed her high heel addiction by shopping for shoes weekly.
Although she has a passion to write, her family is most important to her. She loves spending evenings at home with her husband and daughter, along with their cat and dog.
