I felt it had been too long since I last read a K. Webster book, so I decided to finally listen to the audiobook of The Day She Cried. I didn’t know what to expect, but this story was just wow! This is a new adult, enemies-to-lovers romance with a lot of touching matters and unexpected twists. Seriously, the last few chapters of this book had me absolutely awestruck by the startling revelations and level of feels!
There’s multiple subjects interwoven in this novel, but they all fit together so seamlessly to create a fantastic story. Bullying is at its core and shows the way it can affect people. It also shows that everything is not always as it seems. The consequences of our words and actions can be life changing and Courtney Moss learns it the hard way!
I loved the antagonizing between Courtney and Rome. There’s a fierce attraction between these two, but with the horrific event that happened a year before, Rome now hates her! He likes to degrade her, but it also kind of turns them on. Underneath all these toxic feelings, you feel they are both broken! They just want to feel something other than the pain! They hate as fiercely as they love and it only ignite the sparks between them! They carry the hotness to some impressive peak with their undeniable pull for each other. Their love-hate relationship was addictive!
I must say that listening to this story narrated with such amazing skills was incredible. Told in dual point of view, both characters’ interpretations were spot-on with the exact feelings behind every word! It made the experience of this story truly remarkable!
K. Webster shows her vast talent with this compelling story that gave me all the feels! This novel is truly poignant and impactful, but also deliciously sexy and enthralling. The Day She Cried is a not to be missed!
