In 8 years, Marlon James will be one of the brightest rising stars in the music industry. Bristol Gray will be his tough, no-nonsense manager. But when they first meet, she’s a college student finding her way in the world, and he’s an artist determined to make his way in it. From completely different worlds, all the things that should separate them only draw them closer. It’s a beautiful beginning, but where will the story end?

I had read so much great things about Grip and Bristol and needed to finally meet them. I waited a long time before starting this series and now I can’t help but ask myself why? I definitely fell in love with Kennedy Ryan’s heartfelt writing in the few chapters of Flow.
“I hate the deliberate gentleness of Grip’s tone. It’s as if he sees my cracks and knows that at any minutes I might break.”
Flow is a beautiful introduction to Bristol and Grip’s beginning. I really enjoyed it. Being a novella, it explores only the few days when they first meet, but these days have such an impact on them! From their first meeting, they are already gone for each other. While I wouldn’t say it is “love”, there is definitely a special bond and understanding between them. They can talk about anything as if they’d known each other forever. There’s no awkwardness. They rapidly form a friendship with undertone of attraction they try to repress, but the temptation is so strong. They just fit so well together and made me starry-eyed!
“I don’t care what color a girl is. I like the color of smart, the shade of funny, and sexy is my favorite hue.”
Flow is the perfect prequel and I highly recommend reading it before diving into Grip to really understand the intense dynamic between Bristol and Grip.
“You, Bristol, are a freaking prism.”
