I’m always ready when it comes to stories about brother’s best friend, which is a favorite trope of mine. It was obvious that I would dive eagerly into this novel when I read the synopsis of Cocksure. I had read K.I. Lynn before and loved her books, but I was intrigued with this new collaboration with debut author Olivia Kelley. I’m certainly very pleased with this story that indeed didn’t disappoint.

Everly Hayes comes back home to a new job after eight years away. On her return day, she meets her brother’s best friend and teenage crush, Niko Callahan. He’s sexier than ever and he doesn’t recognize her, so she plays him and the intense pull they share leads to a night of passion. When he finds out the truth about her real identity, he’s more than upset. His best friend Cam told him numerous time his little sister was off-limit.
Throughout the book, Everly tries to stay away from Niko even if she’s so attracted to him. She has trust issues when it comes to this ladies’ man and it doesn’t help that she’s had her confidence affected when her boyfriend cheated on her a few weeks prior.
I loved Niko so much. Yes, he has a past filled with conquest after conquest, but he’s not a liar and after his night with Everly, he’s completely hooked on her. It’s sweet to see this sexy and assured guy fall so fast and hard. I enjoyed the chemistry between Everly and Niko that was really palpable. It was also entertaining and funny seeing Niko interact with the guys at the fire station. Yes, he’s a firefighter!

I feel the book could have been a little shorter, because at some moments I felt the story wasn’t progressing fast enough. But, overall I really loved Cocksure! Great work from this new collaborating authors. Can’t wait to read more of this series with Cam’s story!
