Lake It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents' house. If I’d known then what I do now, would I have kept on walking? Manning was older, darker, experienced—and I’d trusted him when he said the story would only ever be about us. I’d held those words close and challenged fate, but I had lost. A part of me is still that sixteen-year-old girl squinting up at Manning, but no matter how far I fall or high I soar, I’ll always be a bird without her bear and nothing without him. Manning When I close my eyes, I can no longer see her. The decisions I made were to push Lake in the right direction—away from me. But now that she’s gone, would I have made those same choices? I’d walked away like I was supposed to. I’d kept my distance. I’d bent over backward to keep Lake pure, but she’s no longer that girl, and I don’t know if I can stay away anymore. I only know I don’t want to. She’s still everything I want and nothing I should ever have, but if anyone can move the stars, it’s her great bear in the sky.
⭐️ 5+ "Consuming Love" Stars ⭐️
Move the Stars is the culmination of pent-up emotions between Lake and Manning. It’s the long awaited moment where they FINALLY give in to the incomparable feelings they’ve had for each other for years. While they discover the pure bliss of physical connection together, they still have a long way before being a happy couple.
"You can't come back into my life and tell me it's a mess when you're the one who created it."
Jessica Hawkins definitely kept us waiting and waiting through book one and two for Lake and Manning, and it only rendered they reunion so explosively passionate. Despite the four years that have passed, their love for each other never tarnished. They both tried to move on with their lives apart from one another, but without a lot of success.
“He’d beaten my heart black and blue, so what right did he have to try and take it back?”
Ultimately succumbing to the temptation of their feelings, also brings an new alpha side of Manning, making him even hotter. He’s always been so tender and thoughtful with his “Birdy”, but now he shows her the profoundness of his desire and love by acting possessive. Through ever line of their epic story, they both ignited my blood and made my heart tremble from the utter consuming love they share.
“You deserve everything. You are, and always have been, my everything.”
Caving in to these repressed feeling doesn’t make it easier be together. They still have a lot of struggles, heartbreaks, tears to shed before they can live happily ever after, but this process is remarkably sublime to witness.
I ADORED this third installment of the Something in the Way Series. It got my attention from the first to the last word. The emotions I experienced throughout the story went from one extreme to the other, and it definitely affected my little heart. This is a must read book and series.
