Wow! Wow! Wow! I’m still on a high a few hours after finishing Show Me the Way. I won’t ever say this enough, but A.L. Jackson is one of my favorite author for a reason. When she writes, it’s not only about telling a story to her readers, but about feeling that story though your heart and soul. That’s what she does in Show Me the Way effortlessly. I felt an amalgam of emotions reading this brilliantly touching story. I felt my heart palpitate from the passion between Rynna and Rex, break from their agonizing past, squeeze with tenderness for little Frankie Leigh and stopped from the unexpected revelations.
This book offers all the charm of small town romance and with A.L. Jackson’s exquisite writing style, it’s absolute perfection. It might be my new favorite novel by this author, and that’s saying something because I’ve loved every single one of her previous novel I’ve read.
When Rynna comes back to the small town of Gingham Lakes eleven years after leaving in a hurry, she meets her new neighbor Rex Gunner and his little girl Frankie Leigh and right away there’s this magnetic force between them. Rex has secrets and a tormenting past of his own and keeps her at arm’s length. But he can’t repress the sensations she evokes in him: conflict, lust and ache. I really liked this moody guy with a heart of gold and the sweetest daddy ever!! The way he is with his little Sweet Pea is so endearing I found myself smiling continually every time this daddy / daughter duo was mentioned. He only wants the best for his little girl and hides his pain and regrets by living for only her. Frankie Leigh is the cutest little girl ever and I loved her to pieces with her vibrant personality. Always full of energy and a whirlwind of questions; she completely stole my heart.
Rynna is undeniably attracted to this single dad and after years being afraid of relationship, she wants to take a chance with him. I appreciated the strength she had to overcome her old insecurities and hurt of the past and go for what she wants. She knows Rex is worth it and scarred like her and she just can’t let him go.
The back and forth between Rynna and Rex made me anxious to finally see them succumb to this uncontrolled longing, but the slow built of their relationship was flawless and what they needed. Their physical attraction leads to off the charts hot intimate scenes that left me breathless. They exude a sensuality with a touch of tenderness, but also an explosive passion.
Show Me the Way is a beautiful, sweet, funny, hopeful, poignant tale with compelling characters. The poetic way it’s written only heightenes all the feelings it provokes to the reader. A.L. Jackson’s new series Fight For Me is a true masterpiece and an absolute must read!
