The Pawn was my first read by Skye Warren and what an amazing introduction to this author it was for me. I loved this novel and the mystery leading this story. There’s a notable aura of something bigger and darker than what you see all along the read.
To help save her family house and take care of her bedridden father, Avery desperately enters an auction for her virginity. Many rich men bid on her, but the enigmatic Gabriel Miller captivates her at first sight. But this man is known to be dangerous. Their relationship is very interesting. There’s a boiling attraction between them, but the hurt he caused her family makes Avery apprehensive toward him. The sensuality explodes between them to make some intensely hot scenes.
I couldn’t help but be fascinated with Gabriel. Behind his dark and mysterious attitude is hiding a surprisingly thoughtful and complex man. I can’t help but want to discover his secrets. I’m sure there’s more to the whole story.
The twists The Pawn takes are thrilling and the way it’s flawlessly written is beautiful while being unique. I can’t wait to uncover more about Gabriel and Avery’s family secrets in the next books of The Endgame Trilogy. Definitely a sensual ride into mystery, secrets, manipulation and searing chemistry.
