Review: The Room Mate (Roommates #1) by Kendall Ryan

The Room Mate

TITLE: The Room Mate

SERIES: Roommates #1 AUTHOR: Kendall Ryan GENRE: Romantic Comedy

RELEASE DATE: January 24th, 2017

The last time I saw my best friend’s younger brother, he was a geek wearing braces. But when Cannon shows up to crash in my spare room, I get a swift reality check. Now twenty-four, he’s broad shouldered and masculine, and so sinfully sexy, I want to climb him like the jungle gyms we used to enjoy. At six-foot-something with lean muscles hiding under his T-shirt, a deep sexy voice, and full lips that pull into a smirk when he studies me, he’s pure temptation. Fresh out of a messy breakup, he doesn’t want any entanglements. But I can resist, right? I’m holding strong until the third night of our new arrangement when we get drunk and he confesses his biggest secret of all: he’s cursed when it comes to sex. Apparently he’s a god in bed, and women instantly fall in love with him. I’m calling bullshit. In fact, I’m going to prove him wrong, and if I rack up a few much-needed orgasms in the process, all the better. There’s no way I’m going to fall in love with Cannon. But once we start…I realize betting against him may have been the biggest mistake of my life. THE ROOM MATE is a full-length standalone romance.

I’ve read my first Kendall Ryan’s book years ago and never got to read a second one until The Room Mate. Why did I wait so long between both reads?? That’s the question I’m asking myself, because I loved this fabulous story. The blurb and the sexy cover really had me intrigued from the start and it was one of my most anticipated book of January. I definitely found a new series to look for!

When Paige reluctantly accepts to take her best friend’s little brother as her roommate, she doesn’t know what she’s in for. She’s always seen him as the sweet geeky guy, but now that he’s all grown up, he’s a sexy piece of man. Medicine resident, handsome, funny, swoony, cocky… Cannon has everything for him… or almost. On a drunken night between roommates, he confesses to Paige that he’s curse in love and she decides to test his theory and to prove him wrong.

"Are you sure there's not a reason you're single?"

"No reason. I'm waiting for love," I said,

surprised at the honesty in my words.

"And he seems to be taking his sweet time."

The chemistry between them is more than intense and this new experiment is just playing with fire. Put two people with a deep magnetism and who’s always had a soft spot for each other together and you have sizzling hot moments.

"I've wanted you for ten years Paige."

While Cannon and Paige start a friends with benefits kind of relationship, it’s easy to see that there’s already a little more between them developing. Lines slowly blur, but the fact that this romance is a little forbidden add to the anticipation of the big reveal, but also brings questioning about a possible future.

How can their hearts stay safe in this game?

"I realized I'd never been kissed like this.

So possessively. So completely."

This book has a very high dose of sexiness, but is also sweet and beautiful. Both heroes are great and well balanced for each other and as individuals they’re interesting and charming. Cannon never misses a chance to make Paige blush with his cocky side. I loved every moment of this read that made me laugh and smile big from start to finish.
