Checkmate: This Is Reckless is the perfect friends to lovers romance. Courtney and Drew’s story is one I had been waiting for eagerly and it entirely reached my expectations.
Courtney’s infatuation with Drew and him being completely oblivious to it promised a great story and it was really all I was waiting for. The laughs were constantly present with Courtney’s animated personality, but what get me the most was the sweetness of it all. I didn’t expect the romantic level to be this endearing, but that’s Drew and Courtney. Their convincing chemistry brought the deepness of the story to another startling level.
Mia once again is the supreme bitch in this story and sometimes I just wanted for Drew to realize that she was playing him. Let’s just say that Mia causes trouble AGAIN in this book and I was waiting for Drew to get rid of her and to finally see Courtney for what she is: the perfect girl for him!
As it was the case with the first duet, this one is also full of amusing moments, sexual tension, frustrating events and a whole lot of sweet! The ending was a total jaw-dropper and left me anxious for the sequel. In definitive, Checkmate: This Is Reckless is a roller-coaster of feels and another winner for this amazing duo of authors.
