With Checkmate: This Is Love, Kennedy Fox serves us once again a story brimming with emotion and humor. The mood of the story is quite different than in the first book, but it doesn’t diminish the intensity and core of the series.

After all these years fighting their feelings for each other and being enemies, Viola and Travis are finally on good terms. They want this new relationship to work, but they decide to keep it hidden for a while. The game is over between them, but I loved their humorous repartee while they are in presence of unsuspecting people to keep them in the dark about their new feelings. It kept the feel of the first book with the witty come backs they have for each other and that made me smile and laugh. It also kept the authenticity of Viola and Travis’s personalities.
The sexy scenes are still present with steamy moments they try to sneak with the few alone time they have. Exterior events bring a little dark into their growing romance, but their love is now something they can’t deny so they will fight for it. The supporting characters were great! Courtney is so hilarious with her obsession with Drew.
“Just know, if you break my heart again, Travis King, I’ll break your balls.”
This novel was really the perfect way to tie the bow on Viola and Travis’s story. The game is over and now I’m more than excited about Courtney and Drew’s story.
