Broken… Shattered… Evangelina Ricci is trapped in a world that’s a never-ending nightmare, a constant ache in which consumes her every breath. Unable to bear the torture any longer, she does the one thing she can to take back control. Run. With her best friend Jace in tow, Evangelina attempts to escape her darkened past by leaving for college and diving head first into an aggressive schedule, determined with everything she is to make a name for herself. There’s only one problem—she can’t run away from the demons she struggles with. The demons that’ll forever be there, locked inside, battering her soul. Hiding behind a flawless façade, Evangelina faces her ghosts until her world is turned upside down, invaded by…him. Blake Turner. Sweet, witty, flirtatious and drop-dead gorgeous, he finds Evangelina at every turn. Scared he’ll uncover the truth she keeps so well guarded, Evangelina tries her best to put on her act, deterring him like she has so many times before—only this guy’s different. He’s relentless. Utterly, absolutely and completely relentless. He sees her and he wants her and won’t stop until she’s his. Will Evangelina succeed in pushing Blake away? Or will he break down her walls and be the person to make her realize life is worth living?

Oh wow! This story was so great! It’s not your usual romance where girl meets boy and everything is perfect. No!

It’s real! It’s beautiful! It’s ugly! It’s EMOTIONNAL!

“I don’t just love you. I’m living you! My heart beats you. My lungs breathe you. You’re in my fucking veins!”

Eva has been a victim of sexual abuse in the past years. To start fresh, she goes to college away from home. She’s this girl afraid to let people in. On a party night, she meets a kind boy who sees the real her. At first sight there’s an indisputable connection between them, but she flies away rapidly. Blake seems to see the broken girl in her. With perseverance and a few other meeting between them, he soon finds himself friend with her. But with their mutual attraction will Eva give him a chance to make it more?

It’s been a long time since I had the chance to meet a book boyfriend like Blake. Such perfection! Sweet, thoughtful, tender and patient! He is paying attention to Eva’s needs, giving her the control in their relationship. He knows how to treat her. I loved him so much! Eva is an heroine completely haunted by her bad memories that never disappear, but with the help of Blake, she finally has a little break from it all and can breathe again. But her demons are still never very far away and Blake must demonstrate time and time again that he can be her source of strength. I liked her, but I thought she was hard on herself and had a trust issue with the people she cares for by not divulging her deepest secret. Their emotional connection was a deep one, where every actions and feelings was felt tremendously.

“Your eyes give it all away. I know you feel alone and I know you have no clue what you’re worth. You can’t blame yourself for what happened to you. It’s not your fault, baby!”

I was left shattered by this book! This poignant story was filled with struggles and darkness, but also love and hope. The way it ended! What a cliffhanger! I highly recommend it! It was sensational!
